Rotary Clubs in St Kitts and Nevis installs new officers for 2009/2010

BASSETERRE, ST.KITTS - June 24, 2009 A new executive has been installed to carry out the plans and programmes of the Rotary Clubs of St.  Kitts, Liamuiga and Nevis.  At a joint Installation Dinner on Saturday 20 June 2009 at the Royal St Kitts Hotel, Gordon Julien of the Rotary Club  of St. Kitts, Laverne Caines of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga and Charles Morton of the Rotary Club of Nevis were installed as Presidents of their respective Clubs.
 

Rotarians and their guests came together to celebrate their achievements for the Rotary year 2008/2009 while the incoming Presidents presented their plans for the upcoming Rotary year which starts 1st July 2009.  In their acceptance speeches, the three incoming presidents all stressed the importance of service to the community and emphasized Rotary’s worldwide theme for the New Year, “The Future of Rotary is in your hands”. 

 
Following addresses by the three outgoing Presidents - Betty-Ann Gilbert of the Rotary Club of St Kitts, Chris English of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga and Alford Tyrell of the Rotary Club of Nevis, presentations were made to outstanding Rotarians for their support to the respective Clubs during the year.  Four Paul Harris Fellows were also presented to Past Presidents Tapley Seaton, Leah Sahely and Betty-Anne Gilbert of the Rotary Club of St. Kitts, and Past President Paulette Warner of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga.   
 
During his year in office, President Gordon Julien will be supported by Immediate Past President Betty-Ann Gilbert, President-elect Max Brisbane, President Nominee Scott Caines, Vice President Lawrence Elmes, Secretary Louisa Lawrence, Treasurer Gary DaSilva and Sergeant-at-Arms Stacey Hobson.  The chairpersons of the standing committees are Frances-Ann Satney, Club Administration, Natalie John, Public Relations, Trevor Blake, Membership, Robert Morris Service Projects and Percival Hanley, Rotary Foundation.
 
Meanwhile, Eustace Warner, President-Elect and Director of Public Relations, Chris English - Immediate Past President, Carol Phillip - Secretary, Carlton Pogson - Treasurer and Valentine Hodge - Sergeant-at-Arms will serve on the new Board of the Rotary Club of Liamuiga.  The directors are Paulette Warner Club Administration, Maritza Bowry Club Membership, Lee Bailey Club Service Projects and William White Rotary Foundation.
 
The Board of the Rotary Club of Nevis will include Immediate Past President Alford Tyrell, Secretary Carlyn Lawrence, Treasurer Adella Parris, President Nominee Glanville Bowrin as well as directors Patricia Claxton (Community Service), Brontie Gonsalves (International Service), Claudius Liburd (Vocational Service) and Dexter Bowrin (Club Service).
 
The Rotary Club of St Kitts meets every Thursday from 12:30 pm at the Ocean Terrance Inn, the Rotary Club of Liamiuga meets every Wednesday from 7:30am at the St. Kitts Marriott Golf Clubhouse and the Rotary Club of Nevis meets every Thursday from 1pm at the Old Manor Hotel. Visiting Rotarians and their guests are welcome to visit and learn more about the Rotary Clubs in St Kitts and Nevis.
